These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Tangoi iOS app (“App”) operated by jxmattei (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

Use of the App

You may use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes to study Japanese vocabulary. You must be at least 13 years old to use the App.

You agree not to:

  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our servers or related systems

Subscriptions

The App offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions that unlock AI chat and additional features:

  • Weekly subscription
  • Monthly subscription
  • Yearly subscription

Subscriptions are managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple ID account settings.

Free tier: Without an active subscription, certain features (including AI-powered chat) are unavailable. Core vocabulary and quiz functionality remain free.

We do not process or store payment information.

Intellectual Property

The App, including its code, design, and content (excluding your vocabulary words), is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Your vocabulary data belongs to you.

Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR DATA, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APP, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of France, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of France.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
